Looks like all my fooling around with cobs and application-level scheduling is very similar to Flat GHC/KL1 from the Japanese Fifth Generation Computer Systems project.
They were doing this stuff when I was learning my first programming lessons :)
PS: actually, http://citeseer.ist.psu.edu/ueda94moded.html is closer to my ideas.
